Investigating the Asymmetry in Trade Balance Response to Oil Price Changes: Evidence from China
نویسندگان
چکیده
Examining the relation between oil price changes and trade balance is important for oil-importing countries to formulate policy solutions. This study contributes literature by examining asymmetric effects of in prices on China, world’s largest crude importer. To this end, Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL) cointegration approach Pesaran’s Generalized Variance Decompositions technique are adopted. The results reveal that responds asymmetrically long run, while responses symmetric short run. indicate more sensitive increases than decreases. These China should support energy-efficient systems reduce its dependency imported oil.

Asymmetric Effect of Oil Price on the Terms of Trade: Evidence from Oil Exporting and Importing Countries
The oil price shocks are an important source that affect on TOT in both oil exporting and importing countries. Hence, this paper compares the effects of real oil price shock on TOT in both oil importing and exporting countries, using Panel Data technique and during 1980-2010. To the best of our knowledge, we applied the nonlinear approach in order to assess the asymmetric impact of the oil pri...

In this study, we model the long-term and dynamic relationships between spot oil and exchange rates and gas prices by applying the Markov switching vector self-regression model in three regional gas markets in USA, Europe and Asia. Price behavior is analyzed using Bayesian estimation to take into account the transition from an existing relationship and the delayed and recurring effects of pric...

In this Paper, business cycle asymmetry in Iran has been investigated using a nonlinear unobserved component model. In this regard, according to Kim and Nelsonchr('39')s (1999) interpretation of Friedman plucking model (1993), asymmetric transitory component has been modeled and simultaneously the possibility of a correlation between transitory and permanent shocks has also been considered. The...
